The name of the game: high throughput

Logistics, Terminals

One thing just about everyone in logistics can agree on is that they want their supply chain to be more efficient. It's clear that if you're better at managing your supply chain, you're going to reduce operating expenses and inventory carrying costs, and be more profitable.

How you go about measuring and realizing that efficiency, however, is another thing. One way that we look at supply chain efficiency is by measuring throughput - how quickly you can move goods through your supply chain and get them to your customers.

An easy way to increase throughput is by moving cargo through the terminals more quickly. Any number of things can cause delays at the terminal - terminal and customs holds, issues with your transportation providers, and sometimes, simply a lack of information about your container status.

If you have visibility into what's happening with your containers, and access to real-time data that can help you plan and manage potential problems before they cause delays, you'll be able reduce your cargo dwell times at the terminal (and as an added bonus, reduce your demurrage fees).

Using our real-time data and analytics dashboard, our customers have been able increase their supply chain efficiency by reducing their dwell times at terminals from an average of four days to less than two days.
